Suburban Lakes-Demo
It’s been a while.
This is just two songs from two very different times in my life. It’s what I’ve come up with in the last year or so. Kinda rough. Get it, plz.
Cheers,
Tanner

Grouper- Live at ATP NY 2009 (Bootlegs)
I don’t usually like bootlegs or live recordings very much. To me they usually only capture half of the experience in the form of audio. These bootlegs are a different story though. Maybe it’s just my obsession with Grouper, or me being antsy in anticipation of her new double LP (which is coming out very, very soon). Either way, these are some really solid recordings. Part II is the standout to me. Give it a listen!
Eternity Will Smile On Me Typhoon- A New Kind of House EP As I have stated before I have an undying love for this band. With each release, Typhoon becomes more and more developed, with ever increasing maturity. A New Kind of House adds a beautiful and much needed cadenza to Hunger and Thirst, even though none of us expected it needed more closure. This EP oozes raw emotion through its exceptional orchestration and songwriting. Please please support this band and buy their records.
This just feels like spinning plates
This post is for Liza. You have astounded me by showing me once again how much love there is in the world. Thank you for everything.
Lower Dens-Twin Hand Movement
I am only slightly familiar with Jana Hunter’s music, mostly from the split she did with Devendra Banhart. Nonetheless, I am now more inspired to listen to her solo music after hearing this, and she is wonderful. Lower Dens is her foray into dream-shitchillgazewave or whatever but it’s so very tastefully done and there is nothing I want to listen to more than this when I’m high.
The Relict- Tomorrow is Again
Boy it’s been a while. So much has happened in the months it’s been since I’ve last posted anything here. I started my third year at university and the only music I have been listening to has been The Clientele. But what else is new, eh? I’ve come to feel much more independent after I moved to a new house and landed an amazing job. It’s wonderful to feel better about myself. Anyways, because I’ve been listening to so much by Alasdair Maclean, I thought I should post this album which I just got today. The Relict is composed of members of The Clientele but the principle songwriter and vocalist is Innes Phillips, one of the original members. Phillips left the band before they released Suburban Light in 2000 and appears only on the compilation It’s Art, Dad. This album is the sole release by The Relict, but it is oh so lovely. It’s like if Belle and Sebastian had beautiful twee babies with The Clientele and Galaxie 500. I highly, highly recommend this. Thanks for still reading even though I’ve been slacking. I’ll try real hard to keep up with you all again.
Bosse- Echos of the Forgotten
This is really good acoustic ambient/black metal folk. I just stumbled upon it the other day and i have not been able to stop listening to it….it’s so bleak and isolating. Anyways it’s really good. Give it a try.
Dashiell Hedayat- Obsolete
This is some high class psychedelic music, really classic stuff. You and your mother will both enjoy this, you for the high trip-out value and the fact that William S. Burroughs had a large share of influence and a nice ten or so second sample of his voice; and your mother for the smooth melodies and the vocals which are in French, OH HONEY.
Love- Forever Changes
Love were the first popular multiracial band in America. They were also pioneers of the psych-folk movement. But their music goes beyond that. It is some of the most original stuff I have heard in a long time. There are glimmers of Hendrix, but at the same time their sound reminds me of the Clientele. It’s incredibly hard to explain, so just download it and see for yourself.
